Jumping Chupacabra Festival '09

The folks from the former jumpin chupacabra set up an awesome festival this weekend. They rented out a dance hall and put together their own stage, had awesome bands, food, and put together a really great day. They even made compilation CD's of all the bands that played.

Anyway, we're going to start recording our next EP. It's probably going to be 5 songs (american dream, red lights, ghost of the delta blues, karen, the king). We're keeping it short so we can just focus on a few songs and make them as good as possible.

Anyway, here's some pictures from the fest.

Awesome Weekend / Blogging?

Yes, I am going to attempt to successfully blog something for once in my life.

This weekend was great. We played at The Church (costa mesa), on saturday with Pito Muerto, Audacity, and Hindu Pirates. Pito Muerto blew me away, especially since it was their first live set, and also thanks to them for landing us the gig. Audacity was nice n' dirty as usual, and we had to miss Hindu Pirates but I heard they played a great set as well.

Our friends in Torrance are starting a new label (Psychedelicate Records), and they were holding a festival esque fundraiser show at Dylan's house on sunday. Sun Energy Sound, Italic Indian (fckn awesome), Wonder Wheel, were some of the few bands who graced us with performances. Our set got rolled towards the end (surprise), but the music continued shortly after, which was good news. Me and alex recorded all the bands and are hoping to upload em up on this blog as soon as I splice up the tracks. Doug (psychedelicate records) wants to make a sampler release with some of the money he made, so look forward to that.

Last night our friend Melissa had an awesome party and had some bands play, us, pito muerto, tan dollar, wonder wheel, and some others that i can't recall at the moment. We played our first real acoustic set that night. We started outside, a song and a half in, there were some threats of cops by the neighbors (surprise), so we tried finishing our set inside. But volumes really got fucked up inside, as the drums echoed, and i couldn't hear my guitar, so all in all it wasn't that great of a performance, but we had enough wine inside us to let go. Good times.

We're going to start recording this week. We're deciding between a 7-8 song release, a little 4-5 song EP, or potentially a split with Pito Muerto. This is all very tentative, but I started this blog to more or less log the progress of the recordings. I'll also have a reason to take pictures other than letting them sit in my camera.
